Baobab Intitute founder and president, Pape Gaye, supported the establishment of SEMA, a new initiative aimed at helping participating countries adopt a market-based approach to reproductive health supplies.
Mr Gaye has served on the Steering Committee and is also co-chair of the Technical Oversight Committee. In collaboration with Gamo Tounkara of GRAG (Global Research and Advocacy Group), a strategic partner of the Baobab Institute, Gaye serves as focal point for Senegal and Burkina, working with ministries of health and implementing partners (CHAI and RESADE) to introduce and launch SEMA in these two countries.
The first transnational workshop was held in Dakar from October 11 to 13, and brought together participants from the global SEMA team and from Senegal, Burkina Faso and Nigeria, the current priority countries.
