Fatimata Sy

In a few words

Fatimata Sy is the former director of the coordination unit of the Ouagadougou Partnership, a collaboration between nine French-speaking West African governments, private, governmental and multilateral donors, and countless civil society organizations to raise the level of FP throughout the region. Ms Sy is trained as a biologist, nutritionist and public health specialist. She has over 35 years' experience in international development and public health, in the design, management and evaluation of programs in Africa, and in consensus-building among various stakeholders. Prior to her current position, Ms. Sy was, among other things, Task Manager for the World Bank's Health Sector Program in Senegal, Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Liaison Officer for USAID's Office of the U.S. Coordinator for AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and West Africa, Director of FHI360's West Africa Regional HIV/AIDS Project and FHI360 Country Director in Senegal.
She is currently a member of the CIFF Program Investment Committee, the Board of Directors of In their Hands and Tostan.

Ms. Sy holds a master's degree in public health from the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and a university technical diploma from the Institut technologique de Nancy, in France. Ms. Sy is fluent in French, Wolof, Puular and English.
